Terms & Conditions

In these terms and conditions: “RFL” refers to Richmond Furniture Limited, “Customer” means the person, company, organisation by whom the goods and/or works are purchased, as detailed within the Quotation; “Goods” means the goods to be supplied to the customer by RFL pursuant to the contract to which these
terms and conditions apply; “Designs” refer to the kitchen designs prepared by RFL and approved by the Customer by the placing of an order for the Goods contained within; “Quotation” means a quotation given by RFL to the customer for the purchase and/or installation of the Goods; “Works” means the services to
be supplied to the customer by RFL as detailed in the Quotation (or as amended and agreed between RFL and the Customer in writing from time to time); “Works Programme” means a document setting out the sequence and timetabling of works provided by the Customer in writing agreed by RFL in writing.


1. General Information
1.1. These terms and conditions will apply to all the Goods and Works supplied by RFL to the Customer and shall prevail over any terms and conditions put forward or referred to by the Customer (whether in negotiations or otherwise).
1.2. The Customer may not rely on any statement or representation which has been made by Richmond, its employees, or its agents unless such a statement or representation has been detailed within the Quotation or other literature issued by Richmond.
1.3. No variation to these terms and conditions are valid unless made in writing by the Customer, and accepted by Richmond.
1.4. If any one condition within these terms and conditions should become invalid or not apply, the other conditions shall be valid and applied.


2. Prices & Payment
2.1. A quotation does not constitute an order. No order placed on Richmond shall be binding on Richmond, until such an order has been accepted in writing by Richmond. At the point the client is in a position to place the order Richmond will require to check the rates in place at this time and update the quotation if necessary. Prices on furniture and installation are firm for 60 days, all other items including but not limited to solid surface,
appliances, sinks/taps, and other accessories, are priced at the prevailing rate at the date of invoice.
2.2. Any errors or obvious omissions in any quotation or order are subject to correction by Richmond.
2.3. We reserve the right to review our prices in the event of major variations, changes in order values, currency exchange rates, commodity prices, and force majeure.
2.4. Retention clauses within any proposed contract shall not apply. Retention shall be set as Zero%. Liquidated damages clauses within any proposed contract are not accepted since they are not relevant to the supply and fitting of furniture. Main Contractor discounts will not be allowed on any contract.
2.5. If suitable credit can be agreed, payment terms are net 30 days. The invoiced value must not exceed the agreed insured credit limit, if this occurs then early payment will be required. The company reserves the right to suspend further supplies of goods and labour should any invoices become overdue or the credit limit exceeded. The credit limit may vary from the initial agreed value at any time, if this occurs RFL will ensure the customer
has been informed.
2.6. Should we be undertaking multi-stage kitchen installations, phased payments will be required as each stage is completed.
2.7. All invoices are due for payment on or before the last working day of the month following the month of the invoice. No allowance will be made for early settlement or main contractor’s discount.
2.8. In the event that Customer believes costs incurred on site are to be passed onto Richmond, these must be provided to Richmond in writing, in advance of the cost being incurred so we have suitable time and opportunity to put right the problem.
2.9. All orders for Goods and each delivery of Goods made pursuant to an order are divisible and shall be deemed to arise from a separate contract, and shall be invoiced separately and shall be payable in full without deduction or set off in accordance with the terms of payment under these Terms and Conditions.
2.10. All quotations are exclusive of VAT, and RFL will charge VAT at the prevailing rate where applicable.
2.11. Should any sums become overdue or the order value not paid in full on completion of the order and within the agreed terms, the company may refer to adjudication or implement legal proceedings to recover unpaid sums.
2.12. All costs incurred in relation to adjudication and/or legal proceedings will be the responsibility of the customer.
2.13. The Customer shall not be released from its payment obligations in the event of none payment by a third party such as Main Contractor, Developer, or other.


3. Design and Product Specification:
3.1. All Richmond drawings are produced based on information provided by the Customer. Under no circumstances will Richmond become liable for any direct, indirect and/ or consequential loss arising from errors or omissions in the drawings, design or specification. The responsibility lies with the customer to ensure the information within the quotation provided is checked for discrepancies against the information provided to Richmond.
3.2. Should furniture need to be redesigned, additional furniture supplied, or a fitter revisit is required, this will be charged at our standard rates if any of the following conditions are not met.
3.3. Should our design and quote have been provided from architectural drawings provided to us, and we have scaled from these, the customer is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the dimensions shown in our plans.
3.4. At the point of calling off the kitchen for delivery, the customer is responsible to ensure that the onsite, finished room dimensions, positioning of services, and any obstructions in the room correspond with our kitchen design.
3.5. In the interest of the continuation of design, development and product improvement Richmond reserve the right to change colours, designs and specification without prior notice.


4. Delivery
4.1. Delivery subject to the establishment of satisfactory credit facilities. After which our standard delivery period is 3 to 6 working weeks. All deliveries are quoted on a week commencing date, with the day of delivery confirmed the week prior to delivery. We reserve the right to extend our delivery timescales during holiday or busy periods, and this must be checked at the point of order.
4.2. All customers are required to call of their kitchen requirements in week 1 before Tuesday 12pm to ensure a 3 to 6 week delivery. Customer must indicate on the call off any extras required, the handing of the kitchen, and whether it is a social or private specification property.
4.3. Once the kitchen is called off, as all our goods are made to order, production on the furniture starts immediately. As such we cannot accept order amendment’s after the call off is loaded onto our system.
4.4. All deliveries dates are provided as week commencing dates, and we cannot guarantee the day of delivery until the week prior.
4.5. Items such as solid surfaces and solid wood worktops can take up to 2 weeks beyond the initial kitchen installation to be installed. Glass splashbacks could take a further 2 weeks on top of the worktop installation.
4.6. Unless otherwise specified in the quotation, distribution of goods is to ground only. Offload above or below this requires specialist offload services which must be quoted separately, but in all instances, offload services will be horizontal only, all vertical offload is to be covered by the customer.

4.7. Richmond do not accept liability for damages to decoration or walls as a result of installation or distribution. Programme or works, and/ or protection to walls and walkways are the responsibility of the customer, not Richmond.

4.8. Once we deliver the kitchen, we deem that the plot is ready and therefore fitting and installation can commence shortly afterwards. Should the plot not be ready to accept installation within 5 days of delivery due to site delays, the customer shall take ownership and full responsibility for the products supplied. Outside of these 5 days, responsibility for any loss or damage to materials stored on site will be passed to the customer.
4.9. If we are unable to deliver a kitchen to a plot that has been called off by you, there will be a return charge of £150, plus a storage charge of £50 per week per kitchen. Failed deliveries will include, but are not limited to inadequate or unsafe working conditions on site for our driver or off load personnel; a plot being unavailable, incomplete, unprepared, or with restricted access for any reason.
4.10. If a plot is not ready to take a delivery of furniture and we are asked to offload the furniture to another location, or your staff are offloading furniture to plot without our driver having access, we reserve the right to the following:
4.10.1. the customer accepts ownership and responsibility for the materials delivered. Subsequent loss or damage to materials in these circumstances will pass to the customer.
4.10.2. Prior to our fit team arriving on site, the customer must move the furniture from the stored location to the correct plot. Should we be required to uplift the kitchen from the stored location a charge of £60 will apply.
4.11. Cut off for changing deliveries is Thursday 12pm, 6 working days prior to the week commencing delivery date. Changes after this point are not possible, as the kitchen is in production. This will therefore be classed as a failed delivery, with the above charges applicable.
4.12. The customer must ensure safe access, clear access, and a safe working environment for our driver, offload team, and our vehicles when moving around site. If at any point this is not to be the case, please advise our customer service team so we can amend deliveries accordingly. If a vehicle is already pre-planned, a redelivery charge maybe incurred.


5. Installation
5.1. We undertake to supply and fit all furniture and worktops, as detailed in our quotation and in accordance with our individual kitchen designs, to the highest standard. Richmond does not allow for painting and redecoration, chasing or boxing of wiring or pipework, revisits following goods removed or damaged by others.
5.2. Our standard installation service includes for the installation of all furniture and worktops, the dry fit of sinks and taps, and the installation of appliances. Richmond does not make final connections to the main services, or earth bonding. The customer should ensure all taps are checked and securely tightened by a suitable site representative prior to connection the mains supply, and final electrical connections are also made by a suitable
site representative.
5.3. Prior to beginning installation the 1st fix plumbing and electrics should be in place, with wall finished and complete. The plot must be water tight, and capable of making secure under lock and key.
5.4. We reserve the right to abort an installation should the plot not be capable of completing the installation through factors outside of our control, aborted fit charges may be applied.
5.5. All amendments to installation programmes for factors outside our control should be advised in advance, in writing. We require a minimum of 7 days notice to book fitting teams to site.
5.6. The plot must be swept out and clear of any debris prior to us starting works.
5.7. Our quotation includes for a builders clean of the furniture on completion, sparkle cleans are the responsibility of the customer.
5.8. For the avoidance of doubt, the following are expressly excluded from our installation prices:
5.8.1. The installation or alteration to any mains services for gas, electric or water.
5.8.2. The installation or alteration of any waste of stand pipes.
5.8.3. The connection of appliances to any mains services including gas, electric or water.
5.8.4. The testing of any mains services or the issuing of any form of certification.
5.8.5. The supply and application of mastic sealant as a decorative finish within the kitchen area.
5.9. Should the kitchen design include under cabinet lighting, we will install the light fittings, and run the lighting cables behind the wall units for connection to the transformers. The customer must ensure suitable cable connections for the transformers are available in the event of a window, chimney canopy, or other obstruction.
5.10. Richmond will not fit wall units without suitable batons and pattressing being installed to the walls where wall units are planned. This must be done prior to our installation commencement date. Our drawings are provided prior to Richmond being on site, therefore should we be unable to install wall units a revisit charge at our day rate will apply.
5.11. All drawings must be checked by the customer to ensure pipes and/ or cables will not be affected by our installation fixings, including any variations or upgrade options. Richmond does not accept contra charges where cables pipes are damaged by fixings associated with our installation.
5.12. Prior to installing furniture, we require walls and corners to be square, as near vertical as practically possible, and prepared ready to accept furniture. Should this not have been completed prior to our installation team reaching site, we reserve the right to cancel the installation, charge for additional onsite labour or materials required to complete the works.
5.13. We shall remove all waste material associated with our works at the end of each installation to a designated site skip, which must be supplied and designated by you. Segregation of waste may attract additional charges.
5.14. All completed installation works will be protected in accordance with our standard fitting procedures, unless additional protection has been requested and purchased. Maintenance, final removal and disposal of such protection are the client’s responsibility.
5.15. The customer is required to complete a separate sign off sheet at each stage of the installation process, this may include where a plot is in WIP awaiting remedial activity. We ask that the site agent or a nominated representative inspect the furniture and fit, note any issues on the paperwork, and sign and date accordingly for our records.
5.16. In the event of Richmond staff working in plots with other trades, if we believe our works are being slowed by others, we reserve the right to remove staff from site and charge abortive installation charges. Richmond will not accept any liability for delays resulting from this action.
5.17. As the final appliance connections are made by you, the customer, we recommend commissioning of appliances takes place a minimum of 2 weeks prior to guests moving in to allow for remedial action by the appliance manufacturer in the unlikely event of a failure.
5.18. We advise customers that remedial activity following the initial installation can take up to 4 weeks should new parts be required to complete the installation. On multistage fits, with following trades, this process can extend beyond this and would be subject to the each subcontractor’s individual process and timescales. Customers should allow for this in their programme of works.
5.19. Day work and installation of extras are chargeable at the following rates:
5.19.1. Site Work: £150 per half day
5.19.2. Chargeable customer care: £300 per visit
5.20. Extra products and/ or services may be ordered separately. Prices can be obtained from our estimating department on request.
